Girls’ Residence Director

NCC is looking to hire a Girls' Residence Director to begin on August 1, 2022.

Reporting Structure
The RD reports directly to the Principal and works closely with the Boys’ Residence Director, leading a team of Girls’ Residence staff.

Location
The RD will work from and live on the main campus of Niagara Christian Collegiate (NCC) located at 2619 Niagara Parkway, Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada, L2A 5M4.

Job Status
The Girls’ RD is a full time position.

The Girls’ RD takes on responsibilities in the areas of:

  • Culture, Environment, and Individual Support - Being aware of and supporting individual student needs (emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually) as well as the needs of the residence as a whole.
  • Leadership and Development- Setting the direction of the residence program, communicating with students, parents, staff, and community as required, while establishing and maintaining a culture of professionalism and professional growth amongst staff.
  • Programming and Activities - Ongoing programming in the residence, and fostering a culture of student and staff engagement.
  • Policy and Procedure (Operations) - Oversight of residence facilities, policy, and staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Culture, Environment, and Individual Support
    1. Be aware of the needs of students in the care of the residence program
    2. Provide intentional and timely support for identified needs while facilitating communication with required parties, namely other students, staff, parents, and, as needed, third party service providers (counsellors, medical staff, etc.)

  2. Leadership and Development
    1. Working with the Residence staff team and administration, cast a vision for the future of the residence program at NCC
    2. In collaboration with colleagues, develop strategies and plans to ensure ongoing personal and professional development of all residence staff
    3. Engage in ongoing residence evaluations alongside Administration
    4. Develop a culture and system of empowering students to lead on campus
    5. Demonstrate leadership in taking responsibility for ensuring the daily health of the Girls’ residence community and culture

  • Programming and Activities
    1. Program
      1. Establishing a calendar of events in cooperation with the entire Residence staff team
      2. Creating a daily and weekly schedule of events to support student life, academic programming and spiritual formation
      3. Program development for weekends and holidays, and special events.
    2. Discipline
      1. Establishing an environment of respect that encompasses student-student relationships and staff-student relationships
      2. Focussing discipline efforts on the development of strong personal character as well as discipleship and restoration.
      3. Continuous communication with necessary academic staff and parents in regards to ongoing discipline challenges
    3. Communication
      1. Establish and maintain ongoing, open communication that is both timely and proactive with the following: academic and administrative staff, parents, and students

    4. Policy and Procedure (Operations)
      1. Ensure that the physical facility is maintained and that all issues are reported to the Maintenance and Facilities Manager (MFM) promptly for repair or replacement.
      2. Conduct ongoing evaluations of staff to support the development of consistent practice.
      3. Oversee the scheduling of staff cooperatively with the Boys’ RD, including unique scheduling times such as Christmas and March Break.
      4. In conference with Boys’ RD when necessary, develop and implement policies in the following: student discipline and code of conduct, performance standards and expectations for ongoing staff duties, documentation and communication.

Job Requirements

University Degree - preferably in Youth Ministry or Education

Preferred 5 years working with youth in ministry or educational setting
