Learning Resource Teacher - Immediate Need

POSITION: Teacher – Multi Grade – Learning Resource Teacher REPORTS TO: KCA Principal 

DATES: August 29, 2022 – June 23, 2023 

HOURS OF WORK: 32 hrs per week 

Full days Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday; with the exception of STAT holidays and school holidays 

PRIMARY DUTY: To provide excellence in academic instruction to the KCA students, supporting  both the academic standards of KCA, as well as the foundational Christian  values and mission of Koinonia Christian Fellowship. To provide support for  students with exceptionalities, and to collaborate with teachers in providing  additional supports in the classroom.  

KEY  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Reflect a Christian perspective in the class (lessons, tests, goals) • Challenge and motivate students to perform to the best of their abilities • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge in content and exhibit growth in subject  areas 
  • Assess students to develop and implement IEP's, create/implement lesson  plans, write report cards 
  • Work 1:1 with students to provide support and alternative academic pacing • Maintain classroom control: organize classroom in regard to time, space,  materials and equipment to maximize efficiency 
  • Partner with and consistently connect and communicate with parents • Use 'Assessment for Learning' strategies as outlined in the 'Growing Success' document 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Have education and training in the field of Special Education 
  • Have post-secondary education with teaching certification 
  • Have teaching experience in a primary/intermediate classroom • Have strong computer and technological literacy 
  • Clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search • First Aid/CPR training (an asset)

WORKING  

CONDITIONS: 

  • This position will require some lifting of supplies and materials on a  regular basis, as well as bending to interact with and care for children,  in the performance of their duties.
