Job Description

The successful candidate will join the LHCS community as a part time therapist, in order to begin to address the individual mental health needs of some of our students. The school therapist will meet one-on-one with students, and support educators to become more equipped in responding to mental health needs of students.

Job Requirements

• Graduate Degree in social work or a relevant discipline (i.e. psychology, counselling, education). Registered and in good standing with an appropriate professional regulatory college
• Related experience in children’s mental health an asset
• Satisfactory Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sectors Screening
• Demonstrates ability to work independently on an assigned caseload by developing, evaluating, modifying and/or revising treatment plans
• Critically evaluate and analyze information using multi theoretical and conceptual basis in making professional, clinical judgements
• Liaise with Student Support Services, teaching staff, and admin as necessary in order to support educators as they respond to mental health needs of students

Skills

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, time management, and oral and written communication skills
• Maintain organized, up-to-date case notes, treatment plans and goals
• Demonstrated ability to assess a broad range of psychosocial issues that impact student achievement and proven ability to develop effective intervention plans to address the same
• Ability to foster and maintain excellent working relationships with community partners
