King Christian School is seeking an effective and dynamic education assistant for four months, from September to December, 2026.  

The Education Assistant works collaboratively as part of a supportive educational team to help ensure that students achieve their learning goals within a positive, inclusive, and Christ-centred environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong Christian faith and a genuine compassion for children and youth with exceptional learning needs. The candidate will possess an understanding of the learning process and the diverse challenges students may experience, while supporting their academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, students, and families.

Responsibilities:

- work with individuals or a small group of students                                                                              - implement IEP expectations with the guidance of the teacher/supervisor                                            -attend meetings with other professionals and/or parents regarding student progress, as required        - supervise students both indoors and outdoors, as specified by the supervisor and/or the school principal                                                                                                                                                  - use assistive technology and equipment that will enable students with exceptional needs to participate more fully                                                                                                                              - consult regularly with the supervisor to share notes, observations and issues regarding the assigned student’s instruction and behaviour                                                                                          - maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment in consultation with the teacher/supervisor

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: Minimum high school diploma, but additional qualifications or related certificates/coursework preferred 

Experience: Previous experience with children/youth with exceptional needs an asset

Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff are essential
