Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, a dynamic Christian school (over 300 students in Grades 7-12) that walks with students as they become responsible, reflective, compassionate and globally-minded learners, invites applicants for two positions of French Teacher, which will include French courses in the intermediate (Gr. 7&8) and senior divisions (Gr. 9-12). 

The positions available will total 1.16 FTE  including extracurricular involvement that compliments the skills and interests of the candidates. The division of time between candidates will depend on the skills, strengths and experience of each. The FTE for each candidate could potentially range from .24 to .94. These positions will commence August 30, 2023, with classes beginning Tuesday, September 5, 2023. One will end November 1, with possible extension, and one will continue to the end of Semester 1 (January 30, 2024).

Required Skills, Knowledge and Attributes:

• Understand and be committed to Rockway’s Mission and identity
• Demonstrate strong ability to inspire, motivate, connect and build relationships with youth
• Be passionate about teaching French
• Demonstrate strong command of both written and spoken French  
• Display a strong understanding of the Ontario Ministry of Education’s French curriculum
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of assessment and evaluation as outlined in Growing Success
• Possess strong leadership and administrative skills
• Be a collaborative member of Rockway’s faculty and staff
• Coaching and/or extracurricular experience is an asset

Required Education and Work Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:

• Minimum four-year university degree with a preferred specialization in French  
• Experience teaching French
• Bachelor of Education degree and membership, in good standing, of the Ontario College of Teachers
• Other teaching areas
