Providence Christian School is a JK to Gr. 8 school located in the Greater Hamilton Area (Flamborough) and has just over 280 students, 30 staff members, and a dedicated support community. About the Role


Reporting to the Treasurer, the Financial Administrator (Bookkeeper) contributes to the overall financial health and growth of the organization by managing all aspects of bookkeeping, managing receipt of tuition and donations, and providing strategic insights to the Board. With demonstrated commitment to excellence, the Financial Administrator will work independently and collaboratively to identify trends and opportunities, develop budgets, support the school community and contribute to the ongoing operational efficiency of Providence Christian School.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial operation of the organization including: accounts payable, accounts receivable, tuition and donation processing, payroll and benefits, and cashflow management
  • Maintain and develop documentation for all processes and procedures specific to the school’s financial ecosystem
  • Communicate with families as required to ensure tuition is remitted in a timely manner, and to provide support for tuition assistance inquiries
  • Prepare regular government filings and any related remittances (Source Deductions, GST/HST, Record of Employment, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Treasurer on budgeting, financial planning and forecasting process
  • Prepare financial reports and other analysis tools for the Board and leadership team
  • Develop and execute financial strategies to support the mission and initiatives of the school
  • Coordinate with external financial entities as required, on behalf of the organization

  • Superior communication skills; both written and verbal
  • In depth knowledge of financial software including QuickBooks and MS Office

Education

  • Degree/Diploma in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)

The position will require an average of about 15-20 hours per week but may fluctuate depending on seasonal demands or timing of specific requirements
