Librarian needed for John Knox Christian School - Oakville, Ontario

The John Knox Christian School Library is committed to supporting the School’s mission of igniting wonder for God, neighbour and creation. A JKCS librarian would join our staff as a part of a community passionate about Christian education, taking leadership over two libraries and programs therein.

• Can engage well with students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8.
• An ideal candidate would have some experience in a library or equivalent
• While teaching credentials would be an asset, they are not a requirement.

Main Duties:

• Give vision to the library in collaboration with the VP of Learning
• Organize and maintain two collaborative and flexible physical spaces
• Maintain a current, age-appropriate, appealing, and quality non-fiction book collection that supports the school’s curriculum.
• Provide a substantial collection of Christian fiction that appeals to all reading levels and interests. 
• Provide a collection of quality secular fiction that encourages the enjoyment of reading and the use of imagination.
• Encourage students to develop and use evaluation skills to select research materials and pleasure reading.
• Ensure students have satisfactory library skills.
• Educate students in the use and evaluation of electronic information resources. 
• Join the school staff team as a part of professional development, recess supervision, events, etc. 
• Use the JKCS Library Manual to guide practices. 

The successful applicant will be employed 3 days per week (60% position) from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Remuneration:

Salary is based on qualifications and experience.
