Responsibilities of the HDCH Facility Manager:

 

The Facility Manager is responsible for seeing that the building and campus is kept clean, safe and in good repair.  This person is additionally responsible for working with the Facility Advisory Council (FAC) to create and curate a long-term maintenance and renewal plan.  In order to achieve these goals the Facility Manager shall be accountable for the following:

  • Creating an annual facility repair and upgrade budget; managing the budget through the fiscal year, reporting any potential overspends or items needed that are outside of the budget.
  • Managing regular maintenance, regularly occurring items and upkeep.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with all building service contractors.
  • Overseeing compliance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Leading Facility Advisory Council (FAC) meetings
  • Liaising with Director of Advancement for grant applications, fundraising, and coordinating resources.
  • Other duties that the Principal may assign from time to time.

Advantageous Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Experience managing a complex public facility, such as a school, church or other public space.
  • Skill at prioritising facility emergencies while managing larger complex building and repair projects.
  • Experience creating and managing annual facility budgets, multi-year facility plans.
  • Construction management experience, including managing quotes and multiple subcontractors.
  • Custodial management experience, including setting and maintaining standards of cleanliness and working with both external service providers and student employees.
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit or charity environment that is reliant upon volunteers, donations and grants.
  • Construction trade designation, such as Facility Manager, would be an asset.
  • Technical expertise in areas such as HVAC, labour codes, building codes, electrical codes, reading blueprints, etc.
  • Demonstrated interest in youth and education with a Christian worldview.
