Director of Learning

Woodstock Christian School invites applicants for a position as Director of Learning. 

In consultation with the principal, the director of learning is responsible for determining the yearly focus for Professional Development and PLC cycles. The Director of Learning oversees the writing of curriculum overviews, scope and sequence of school wide curriculum, and provides curricular support to classroom teachers, while assisting them in implementing new strategies, writing new units, and collaborating with peers. The Director stays abreast of current research in pedagogy and methodology, and assists teachers in creating innovative lessons, planning units using backwards design, using 21st century skills and relevant technologies, using data to inform instructional practices, teaching from a Biblical perspective, and guiding how to create authentic assessments using well designed rubrics.  As a member of the administrative leadership team, the Director of Learning will also participate in the hiring process and assist in the onboarding of new teachers. 

The Director of Learning will be part of the administrative leadership team at WCS. A leader must show a mature, godly spirit, be a person of faith and prayer, capable of modeling exemplary Christian character and leadership. Effective Christian leadership is vital to the development and maintenance of a culture of wellness and excellence at WCS. The vice-principal and school directors, as part of the administration leadership team, are responsible for supporting the principal in providing a stimulating, safe and secure learning and work environment for students and staff.

This position is primarily a 25% administrative position, but could include some teaching responsibilities.

Minimum Educational Requirements: Must possess Bachelor of Education degree, be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), possess a Christian School Teaching Certificate (CSTC), or be working towards its completion. Additional masters level courses in administration leadership, curriculum development, or additional qualifications (AQs) are an asset. Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience.
