Martli qualified as a chartered accountant in South Africa after completing her BCom (Accounting Sciences) degree and BCom (Honours) degree at the University of Pretoria.

After working as an external audit manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for 5 years, she joined the same university where she once was a student, as a senior lecturer in Financial Accounting, with specialization in the education of future chartered accountants. She was a co-author in two accounting textbooks as well as acting moderator for various other accounting programs.

In 2015, Martli was appointed as the head of finance of the governing board of a Christian elementary school. In 2017, Martli and her family relocated to Canada, where she once again joined PwC in their Learning and Development division. Martli understands the importance of a Christian school education, having experienced it as a student in both elementary and high school and being able to notice the clear difference in her own children’s education when they moved from a Christian school in South Africa to public school in Canada. She is an avid believer that the foundation and principles set through faith-based education in a child’s formative years is invaluable.
