UMEI Christian High School is seeking a General Trades / Technological Education teacher to join our staff. UMEI is a small, independent Christian high school rooted in the Anabaptist tradition, committed to nurturing students academically, spiritually, and personally. Our supportive and close-knit learning community allows teachers to build strong relationships with students while helping them explore their gifts and future pathways.

The successful candidate will teach courses in Technological Education / General Trades, introducing students to practical skills and foundational knowledge in areas such as:

• Construction and woodworking
• Basic electrical and mechanical skills
• Shop safety and tool use
• Hands-on project design and building
• Problem-solving and practical applications of technology

Having an OCT Certification would be an added benefit, but not necessary for the position.  Instead, experience in the skilled trades field and a desire to teach and mentor youth will be a requirement. 

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons in technological education
• Create a safe and well-organized shop environment
• Teach and model safe tool use and shop procedures
• Support students in developing practical skills, creativity, and confidence
• Maintain equipment and organize shop materials
• Participate in school life including staff meetings, chapel, and community events
• Contribute to the supportive and faith-based culture of the school
