HDCH is posting for an Administrative Assistant / Receptionist (Contract) to support the school in accomplishing that mission and vision. This position is part-time (three days per week, Wednesday to Friday) beginning August 2023. Experience in an office or school office setting is required. This contract position will last between 12-18 months to cover a parental leave.
Duties and Responsibilities
This person will work individually and with a team to provide generous hospitality and exceptional administrative support for our Christian high school, with the goal of helping accomplish the mission and vision of our school. They will work collaboratively with the Director of First Impressions in a job share of reception and daily school administrative work.
Responsibilities include:

Reception, which includes daily interactions with staff and students, and welcoming visitors and parents to the school in person, by phone, and by email

The first line of student care; everything from a welcoming presence and building relationships to triaging first aid and intervention

Connecting students to a range of staff support with care and confidentiality

Attendance, student information system data entry, and other school office support work

Administrative support for the Service and Support Team as determined by the Office Coordinator, including data entry; events, projects, and communications; and other tasks as assigned

Coordinating rentals of the school building and school buses
Qualifications and Attributes

An understanding of and commitment to Christian education, in particular, HDCH’s mission and vision

The ability to complete tasks within an environment where priorities may be shifting

Effective teamwork skills; ability to work in a collaborative environment

Previous administrative support and reception experience

Effective and accurate use of word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet programs (either Office or Google suite)

Database experience and digital fluency

Good business communication skills, including both written and verbal communications
Post-secondary education in related areas such as business administration, communications, or education or equivalent experience may be an asset.
Hours & Compensation
This is a contract-based, part-time position, 8:30 am – 3:45 pm three days per week (Wednesday through Friday). The remuneration for this position ranges from $16.97 – $23.93 per hour depending on experience and education. Vacation allotment for this role includes two weeks at Christmas, one week at March Break, and three weeks in summer. A comprehensive benefits package is included in the compensation.
