We are looking for a wonderful teacher to start our Grade 3 students off to a great year in September, while our current teacher is on medical leave.
- The position will be for at least the month of September, and may extend beyond that into Oct-Dec or perhaps beyond. We are planning conservatively. Consideration will be given to candidates who are flexible, as we aim to give our students a lovely and consistent year.
- Preparation will be required in some of August. Currently a new teacher orientation is schedule for August 12, and teacher training prep is scheduled for week of August 25. There is some flexibility here.
- Our grade 3 teacher on leave, along with school leadership, is available to orient the chosen candidate to the curriculum and class.
The position. Using our curriculum, the teacher will plan and teach all lessons in English language (composition, spelling, grammar, poetry), read aloud, history and novel study, mathematics, Bible, and possibly some of science and/or nature study. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the language arts and elementary mathematics. They will love excellent literature and select books and poems that instruct, move, and delight. This person will have a deep appreciation of nature and the arts - an enthusiasm for studying the created world and our cultural heritage of art, music, and theatre. This teacher will create a welcoming, kind, and calm classroom and be diligent in encouraging students to grow in wisdom and virtue through regular prayer and Bible reading, habit-training, loving correction, and maintaining high expectations for respect, behaviour, and academic work.
