We are looking for an Academic Support Coordinator / Learning Resource Teacher who will generally "ensure no student falls between the cracks" and tutor students in one-on-one or small group settings.
This is a shared role, you will coordinate and work alongside a second EA / Tutor.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Support Coordinator / LRT (12-16 hrs/week)
Work with teachers, parents, and the students to:
- Assess where "at risk" students are at, learning gaps, and a coordinated school-and-home plan forward.
- Support teachers who identify students "at risk" of falling behind or being held back in assessments and conversations with parents.
- Writing / updated student Personal Plans (e.g. brief IEPs).
- Help the school determine the level of support such students will need.
EA / Tutor responsibilities (3-6 hrs/week)
- Tutor students needing math, reading, or writing support in one-on-one or small group settings
Qualifications:
- Experience or training in providing academic support and learning disabilities
- Previous experience working with young children in a school setting.
- Motivated, take lots of initiative, work hard, and can mind little details.
- Patient, flexible, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting young students
- Able to support the homeroom teacher, follow directions, and adapt to classroom / student needs.
Position details
- Part-time. There is some flexibility to the structure and hours of this role.
- May include tutoring or coordination or both.
- This is a shared role, you will work alongside another tutor.
