Seaway Valley Cohort Leader

Edvance is seeking a Cohort Leader for the Seaway Valley Cohort

All Edvance affiliate school leaders are invited to engage in one of seven regional leadership cohorts. These cohorts are convened by Edvance and are led by a recognized and appointed school leader in that region. This is a key leadership service of Edvance and a significant component of the ongoing growth of Edvance affiliate school leaders.

Edvance is seeking a leader within the Seaway Valley Cohort to become the next Cohort Leader.

In this role the Cohort Leader will work closely with the Director of Leadership at Edvance to support the Christian school leaders in their region. They will do so by generously and warmly hosting cohort meetings, mentoring and supporting school leaders as needed, and conveying invitations to join and participate in the Edvance community.

Key annual responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with Edvance affiliate school leaders in their cohort to identify and grow leadership capacity.
  • Convening four to six regional/school level cohort meetings (preferably in-person meetings, online meetings are also an option depending on the situation).
  • Writing an article for publication in the Edvance Notice newsletter focused on a theme identified at the annual Cohort Leader August retreat.
  • Providing support for Edvance affiliate school leaders within the regional cohort by staying in direct contact with them as needed.
  • Providing mentorship to new Edvance affiliate school leaders in the cohort.
  • Helping to identify emerging leaders within the cohort region and ensuring Edvance’s Director of Leadership is aware of them for possible mentoring.
  • Regularly communicating with Edvance’s Director of Leadership regarding leadership joys, opportunities, and challenges within the regional cohort.
  • Welcoming non-affiliate Christian school leaders to participate in regional cohort meetings, promoting Edvance networks and services, and encouraging
  • Participating in at least four Cohort Leader meetings per year hosted by the Director of Leadership, including at least one Cohort Leader retreat (1-2 days).
  • Providing the Director of Leadership with relevant and timely ideas and support for conferences, readings, courses, speakers, and/or tours that stimulate growth in leadership development.
  • Demonstrating commitment to ongoing leadership development by engaging in professional development including, but not limited to, the Global Leadership Summit, educational conferences, professional reading, and Edvance events.

Experience and Education:

  • Graduate degree (or significant professional experience)
  • Relevant education degree(s) and certifications, including preference for OCT certification
  • 5+ years of elementary or secondary Christian school leadership experience are preferred for Cohort Leadership

Remuneration for this position will be discussed with the applicant.
