Sarnia Christian School (SCS) is seeking a passionate and faith-filled part-time Elementary Band Teacher to inspire a love of music for students in Grades 4-8.  This is an opportunity to nurture young musicians, helping them discover the joy of music while growing in confidence, creativity and faith.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging band instruction for elementary students.
• Teach foundational instrumental techniques and musical literacy.
• Foster a positive, encouraging classroom environment where all students feel valued.
• Prepare students for performances, concerts, and school events.
• Support students in developing discipline, teamwork, and a love for music.
• Integrate a Christian worldview into teaching and interactions with students
• Collaborate with staff in planning concerts and contribute to the broader school community

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or in a related field.
• Ontario teaching certification (OCT) preferred or many years of teaching music.
• Experience teaching elementary music or band is an asset
• Proficiency in a variety of band instruments. (We have an abundance of band instruments, guitars, and ukuleles!)
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• A heart for working with children and encouraging their musical growth.

• A personal and active Christian faith.
• Willingness to support and participate in the spiritual life of the school.
• Ability to model Christian values in teaching and relationships.

Approximate Hours of Work: Two days per week (approximately 30% time).

Compensation: $14,000 - $27,000 per year.
