Overview
John Knox Christian School-Brampton is seeking a School Librarian to lead and care for our school library beginning in September 2026. The librarian plays an important role in helping students grow in their love of reading, learning, and discovering God’s world through books and research. This role includes supporting teachers, helping students find resources, and creating a welcoming library space where curiosity and learning can flourish.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children, values Christian education, and is excited to encourage literacy and a love of learning within our school community.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily library tasks including checkout, checkin, overdues and processing new books
• Recruit, train and supervise library volunteers
• Set up and manage the Accelerated Reader program
• Plan annual library budget and track library expenditures
• Select and purchase library materials in keeping with the Collection Policy
• Help students and staff find resources and support classroom learning
• Encourage a love of reading through library programs, displays, and activities
• Maintain a welcoming, organized, and accessible library space
• Stay informed about new library tools, resources, and educational technology
• Foster a library environment that reflects Christian values such as kindness, respect, stewardship, and a love for learning

Qualifications

• Degree or training in Library Science, Education, or a related field preferred
• Experience in a school or library setting is an asset
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Entry to mid-level skills in word processing and spreadsheets e.g. Word, Excel, Google applications.
• Experience using integrated library systems that include Circulation and Cataloguing
• Experience with ResourceMate and Accelerated Reader would be an asset
• Enjoys teaching and working with children
• Able to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A commitment to Christian education and a willingness to support the mission and values of John Knox Christian School
